Contest Categories

Teamwork illustrates behaviors and actions when working within a team in the classroom or outside of the classroom. Provide viewers through a team when you worked with a team to accomplish a goal or a project. Reflect on the challenges and benefits to working with others in a team setting.

Explore illustrates a time when you were introduced to a new topic or issues, such as; a course concept or an idea. Guide viewers through the steps that you took to explore to learn the new topic. Reflect on the conclusions and summaries you made through completing your analysis.

Service illustrates a time when you participated in a volunteer activity. Guide viewers through your volunteer activity, describing the social issues your volunteering addressed and how the volunteering helps to alleviate the issue.  Reflect on how your volunteer activity increased or changed your understanding of diversity, connected and extended your knowledge of your course studies, and revealed new personal insights.

Challenge illustrates the ability to identify a problem and implement a solution. Guide viewers through your process for solving your problem, from start to finish. Present the challenges you faced in coming to your solution. Reflect on what you would do differently next time when confronted with a similar challenge.

Creativity illustrates the ability to create or combine artifacts in an original or innovate way. Take your viewers on a journey through a series of works that you curated. Reflect on your creative process for putting the selection together.

Commit illustrates the ability to follow through on achieving a goal that you have set out to do.  Guide viewers through the process of developing your goal and the steps you have laid out to achieve that goal.  Reflect on how you have made the commitment to achieve this goal and what resources, support system or learning has helped you in reaching that goal.

Mastery illustrates an understanding and mastery of an academic discipline.  Guide viewers on your educational journey through your academic program requirements by making connections to ideas, coursework, classroom and out of classroom experiences, etc.  Reflect on the journey thus far and how you plan to continue your educational journey or how you will begin to make connections outside of the classroom.
